'Providence' is one of the biggest songs on the record and is undoubtedly going to be massive live. How did that one come about?
We were just jamming it out, it was a jam track. And then when I started singing along to it, what came out sounded very gospel-infused. I think it's a peculiar song. I don't really know how to answer your question, but in terms of the way we recorded it, it was done in one take, live. There's no real editing. It's not done to a click track, it's not been Botoxed and manicured. It's raw. We made stuff sound better, sure, but that's one take of everyone in the room — which is why I think it's got that crazed energy. And [co-producer] Flood was encouraging of us to get crazier and crazier.
